Liu Wen Chao

Liu Wen Chao (b.1992) graduated from BA (Hons) in Fine Arts at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. He has developed a distinctive approach to colour and texture in his oil paintings. His oil painting follows the tradition of Chinese literati painting with a spice of western sentiment. Referencing Song Dynasty masters while reinterpreting their aesthetics with contemporary meaning. Behind his dreamlike and mysterious landscapes, he draws inspiration from Chinese mythology, poetry, and literary traditions, embedding personal life experiences that invite viewers into a world where the past and present intertwine.

Wenchao served as Production Manager at Independent Archive Ltd. (2015– 2018), where  he contributed  to  artistic  projects,  managed  archival  materials,  and exhibitions.  He  also  closely  collaborated  with  Cultural  Medallion recipient Lee Wen (1957-2019) on numerous artistic and performance projects, providing key support in production and project management.
