Zheng Xu Peng

NAFA alumnus Zheng Xu Peng is a Singaporean artist whose practice is rooted in close observation of the city and its everyday landscapes. His work reflects on the quiet, fleeting moments encountered amidst the movement and energy of urban life.

For Moments in the City, Xu Peng presents works from his Journey series, a collection of oil paintings developed from scenes he observes while travelling around Singapore, particularly along his journeys from his home in the East. Through fresh colours, expressive compositions and bold brushstrokes, he captures familiar outdoor spaces in moments of unexpected calm.

Rather than focusing on the noise and density commonly associated with city life, Xu Peng looks for its quieter intervals—the changing light, open spaces, passing views and transient encounters that often go unnoticed. His paintings invite viewers to pause and rediscover a sense of tranquillity within the familiar Singapore landscape.
