Savour the Arts by NAFA has entered Season 6. In the past five seasons, we saw aspiring artists exude their passion through exploration in experimental strokes, creating multi-varied art styles for our viewers. This time we brought in 6 emerging and seasoned alumni to present an array of visual feasts.
Our featured veteran artists Simon Wee and Poon Keng Cheong, expressed themselves through very different styles. Simon’s bold, emotive strokes in Zen studies using vibrant colours, are contrasted with the gentle studies of Jambu as still life, a local tropical fruit glow with appetizing colours that entices the viewers by Poon Keng Cheong. Through cultivation in their world of diligent studies, matched with their humble personalities, both Wee and Poon have garnered local and international followers.
Sonas Lim and Kim Ng applied traditional materials such as ink and rice paper to interpret new arrangements and aesthetics that befit their engagement in the medium, thus created a juxtapose of visual elements that can be admired in depth.
Oscar’s sketched cats are often a mix of comedies and appreciation of defiant felines that she sees in the street of Singapore. Finally, young Deepti epitomises an old soul. With a keen eye for details, she orchestrates her palette in signature overlays of burgundy and copper hues, emanating turbulence through chaotic brushwork.
Art is a foundry of joy and expression, and we would like to share this intimate connection with you, our viewers, through Savour the Arts.
